High-performance servo drive concept

The ACOPOS servo drive family is a core component of B&R's comprehensively integrated automation solutions. Industry-specific functions and intuitive tools provide the foundation for shorter development times.

An important criteria for the performance of an automation solution is a fast and precise reaction to events dependent on the application or immediate changes in the production process. This is exactly the reason why ACOPOS servo drives work with extremely short sampling and communication cycles of 400 µs, cycles that are reduced even further to 50 µs in the control loop itself.

Exceptional quality – Robust and safe

Developers paid special attention to making sure that these systems had the necessary EMC characteristics suitable for harsh industrial environments as well. Testing did not stop at the limits dictated by the applicable standards, either; extensive field tests in extremely adverse conditions further confirmed the excellent results from the testing laboratories. All necessary filters required by the respective CE guidelines are already integrated in these systems, simplifying wiring at every stage.

Using computer-aided models, the thermal behavior of the entire system is pre-calculated based on measured currents and temperatures. This results in maximum performance by taking advantage of the systems full capabilities.

ACOPOS servo drives use the information about the motor's embedded parameter chip, which contains all relevant mechanical and electronic data. The tedious and error-prone task of configuring parameters manually is no longer necessary – a feature that considerably reduces commissioning times. In addition, service technicians can use this information to determine whether errors have been caused by improper handling.

The ACOPOS servo family is also available with partially-coated circuit boards. These versions are - with identical specifications - more robust in regard to environmental influences such as dust, aggressive vapors or moisture.

Modular, precise and communicative

The I/O points needed to operate a servo axis are part of the standard equipment for ACOPOS servo drives. The user is provided two trigger inputs for tasks requiring precise measurements or print mark control.

ACOPOS servo drives can be further adapted to meet any application-specific requirement through the use of plug-in modules. These modules can be used to establish network connections with other drive, controller and HMI systems in addition to connecting encoders, sensors and actuators. CPU modules are also available for the complete integration of controller and drive.

Room for innovation

Power, performance and function combined with versatility – these characteristics as well as the advanced technology behind ACOPOS servo drives have proven themselves over and over again in the following industries:

  • Packaging industry
  • Materials handling
  • Plastics processing
  • Paper and print processing
  • Textile industry
  • Wood industry
  • Metalworking industry
  • Semiconductor industry
