Automation PCs provide many flexible options for connecting remote panels. To help the operator keep an eye on all processes at all times, for example, dual independent display mode allows two screens to display different content.

Smart Display Link

For the many panels in the field – both customized and standard – the Automation PC 910 comes equipped with the proven SDL interface. This is a simple way to connect a PC to a display using only a single cable. Smart Display Link supplies the display unit not only with image data, but also with all the data it needs to operate the touch screen, LEDs, keys and remote USB interface. It even allows up to four panels to be operated per line, making it possible to distribute operator stations around expansive machines and systems as needed. Software locking prevents operations on connected panels from interfering with one another.

DVI Link

DVI stands for Digital Visual Interface and is based on the standard defined by the Display Working Group for connecting TFT monitors in office environments. Unlike Smart Display Link, DVI only transfers image data; additional communication channels, to operate a touch screen for instance, must be established using additional cables. The SDL port on the Automation PC 910 can also transfer DVI signals, which makes it easy to connect a standard TFT display if necessary. An additional DVI-I interface allows the operation of analog devices with an RGB port using an adapter.

DisplayPort

In addition to the onboard SDL/DVI port, the Automation PC 910 also comes equipped with a DisplayPort interface. DisplayPort is based on the digital display interface that is becoming increasingly popular on the consumer goods market. According to its specification, DisplayPort allows higher resolutions (maximum 3840 x 2160) than single-link DVI (1920 x 1200). In industrial applications, DisplayPort is the best choice when using large standard panels in control stations.
