Automation Studio Target for Simulink

Automation Studio Target for Simulink offers an interface for automatic code generation from MATLAB/Simulink for B&R target systems. The MATLAB®/Simulink® and Automation Studio simulation and development tools allow you to move from developing a model to generating high-quality program code in a matter of minutes. The languages C, C++ and Structured Text (specified in IEC 61131-3) are supported. Model-based development using MATLAB® and Simulink® improves production quality and reduces development times.

Material Number Description
1TGSIMTS.CRP.00-01 The corporate license allows the use of Automation Studio Target for Simulink by all users at a company at all of a company's sites, including all associated companies, for a period of one year. With the corporate license, it is permitted to license Automation Studio Target for Simulink on a B&R Automation PC that is delivered with the machine if it can be guaranteed that only service personnel working for the machine or plant manufacturer will have access to that instance of Automation Studio. Automation Studio Target for Simulink enables automatic code generation from MATLAB/Simulink for Automation Studio. Support for C, C++ for tasks and function blocks. Simulink external mode, Simulink C-S functions, model referencing and SimScape are also supported. Licensing takes place via activation over the Internet. After one year, the license will automatically be extended an additional year and invoiced accordingly as long as the license has not been canceled before expiration.
1TGSIMTS.SNG.00-01 The single-user license allows exactly one user to use Automation Studio Target for Simulink at any given time for a period of one year. Automation Studio Target for Simulink enables automatic code generation from MATLAB/Simulink for Automation Studio. Support for C, C++ for tasks and function blocks. Simulink external mode, Simulink C-S functions, model referencing and SimScape are also supported. The license is stored on a Technology Guard (dongle). This permits multiple users to share the right to use Automation Studio on different workstations by connecting the Technology Guard with the single-user license to the respective workstation computer. After one year, the license will automatically be extended an additional year and invoiced accordingly as long as the license has not been canceled before expiration. The Technology Guard is not included in the single-user license (separate order required).
1TGSIMTS.SNG.00-02 The single-user license allows exactly one user to use Automation Studio Target for Simulink at any given time for a period of one year. Automation Studio Target for Simulink enables automatic code generation from MATLAB/Simulink for Automation Studio. Support for C, C++ for tasks and function blocks. Simulink external mode, Simulink C-S functions, model referencing and SimScape are also supported. The license is stored in a software license container that is permanently bound to the computer. Transferring the license to another computer is therefore not possible. After one year, the license will automatically be extended an additional year and invoiced accordingly as long as the license has not been canceled before expiration.
1TGSIMTS.STE.00-01 A site license allows the use of Automation Studio Target for Simulink by any number of users at a single company location. The users must be employed at the respective company site but can use Automation Studio Target for Simulink regardless of their location (internationally active service technicians, for example).

Technical data

The following software is required in order to use automatic code generation with B&R Automation Studio Target for Simulink®:

  • MATLAB® and Simulink®, latest version up to Version 2017b with B&R Automation Studio Target for Simulink® Version 6.2.2 or higher

  • Simulink Coder® or Embedded CoderTM

  • C++/C compiler: depending on version of MATLAB®/Simulink®: e.g. SDK7.0 or Visual Studio

  • Automation Studio Version version 3.0.90 or higher is required in order to transfer code directly to Automation Studio during code generation.

Bidirectional data exchange

External mode

External mode makes it possible to link the target system to the Simulink model via TCP/IP and exchange data bidirectionally at runtime. Data can be made available to the target system directly in the Simulink model (e.g. using 'Scope' or 'Display') or written from the Simulink model to the target system (e.g. using the Simulink 'Gain' or 'Constant' blocks).
